Tools
Technology is amazing. And daunting. So many facets of technology advance so rapidly that it is entirely impossible to keep track of it all. The following list of tools and resources is a simple cross-section of opportunities I’ve found to optimize and simplify my life as a technologist.
Occasionally, I’ll opt to keep an older version of a particular piece of software in place if a newer version obscures or removes certain components that I find useful. For instance, I use Winamp 2.76 because it was the last “good” Winamp on the market. Even though iTunes is now my media player of choice, I often open Winamp to watch television through my TV card or listen to some of my lossless audio collection in FLAC format.
Also, I am 100% certain that there are many of you who have better tools in your arsenal that what is seen here. And I am 100% okay with you sending me an email with a review of your favorite new LCD monitor cleaning cloth. I’ll certainly evaluate any advice that comes my way, but for the most part I dearly love the tools I use, so make that argument compelling.
